Also, the lovely Adele did the title song. Can it get any better?
Program Council is proud to announce singer-songwriter and 2009′s American Idol, Kris Allen will be performing in Old Main Chapel the night of Friday, February 22nd, with special guest, Jillette Johnson.
After winning the eighth season of American Idol, Allen soared to Top 40 radio with “No Boundaries”, and peaked at #18 with his hit “Live Like We’re Dying” (2009).
Thank You Camelia, his 2012 release, showcases Allen’s growth in songwriting, particularly in the pop rock genre. Check out the lead single, “The Vision Of Love“.
Johnson is a honey-voiced singer-songwriter who hails from New York City, and debuted her first EP, Whiskey & Frosting last August. Her inspiration comes from everywhere – Joni Mitchell to the Les Miserables soundtrack – and she puts a piece of the up-and-down roller coaster of being a young woman living in the Big Apple in her music.
Program Council is proud to announce that Life In Color (formerly Dayglow) will be coming to the University of Colorado-Boulder campus. This massive paint party will be held in the massive Balch Fieldhouse on February 16th, and will feature the music of Borgore, Seven Lions, Basscrooks, TYR, and Jimmy Burns.
TICKETS: http://tinyurl.com/LICBOULDER
** You can also pick up tickets from The Connection on the first floor of the UMC (CU-Boulder Campus).
Israeli producer Borgore has made quite an impression on the music scene in only three years. His music, self-described as “Gorestep”, is full of dubstep and heavy bass. Miley Cyrus even lent her backing vocals to his latest release, “Decisions”. After his performance at Pacha NYC in October, one reviewer said “I don’t know how else to put it other than the man absolutely killed it! Borgore as a DJ is incredible, with the ability to effortless mix drop after drop into a massive bass fueled party.”
Seven Lions has also been fast to crack the EDM arena, with his release of the Days to Come EP on Skrillex’s record label, OWSLA. Beatport also selected his remix of “Days to Come” as the winner of the 2011 Remix Contest. His sound is progressive dubstep, heavy with soulful beats, and his latest four-song release, the Seven Lions EP has a mix of almost everything, including “trance, house, indie synth pop, indie rock, and dubstep.”
Denver duo Basscrooks has already shared stages with the likes Krewella and Talib Kwali, playing their prominent blend of hip hop and dubstep. Formed in 2010 by DJ Wushu and DJ Empir3, the pair is generous with heavy bass and electronica.
Getting the night rolling is 18-year-old Las Vegas transplant, TYR. As Boulder is one of the main circuits for electronic music, moving seemed like the obvious choice. TYR has received much praise from various music blogs including Earmilk.com, and a shoutout from Moby himself for his remix of “Flower”.

AEG Live is working with your very own Program Council to bring renowned actor and comedian Robin Williams to Macky Auditorium on Friday, January 18th. During the show, Williams will have a sit down with television director and host of Showtime’s series, Inside Comedy, David Steinberg.
Known for many various roles, Robin Williams is a multi-faceted force to be reckoned with. Starring in films like Good Will Hunting (1997), Mrs. Doubtfire (1993), and the creepy One Hour Photo (2002), Williams has grown well beyond his comedic breakout role as Mork in the Happy Days spinoff Mork & Mindy (1978-82), which, coincidentally, was set in sunny Boulder, CO.
David Steinberg has had a long career directing television shows, most notably, Curb Your Enthusiasm. Sit Down Comedy with David Steinberg (2005-07), with which he was host and executive producer, had him interacting with many of his favorite comedians, including Jon Stewart, Ray Romano and Robin Williams.
